Rates and FAQ

I have partnered with Thrizer to help my clients save money on therapy! Use this out-of-network calculator below to see if you qualify for reimbursement for my services.

Financial FAQ:

  • My rate for a 45-60 minute individual therapy session is $250.

My rate for EMDR Intensives starts at $2500. This includes your free intro call, 1-hour intake, 8 hours of intensive therapy, and a 1-hour follow-up.

  • My rate reflects 10 years worth of experience, training, and specialized credentials. It also reflects how much it costs for me to practice in three different states and maintain state licensure and training. Your investment pays for:

    • Continuing education needed for each state (NY, NJ, and CA)

    • Continuing education for my EMDR Certified™ Therapist credentials

    • Ongoing supervision and consultation with colleagues to ensure I do good work with you

    • Additional costs that come with running a practice (such as the cost of maintaining this website and gmail).

    • Other self-employment costs (such as my own health insurance, dental, vision, disability, PTO, and Paid Sick Time).

    • Business taxes

Additionally, please know I don’t see 40 clients a week. My cost reflects my ability to hold space for you without worrying about back-to-back clients.

If you’re in need of financially affordable therapy, I’m occasionally able to provide reduced fee therapy for weekly sessions. I do not offer a reduced fee for intensives due to their lengthy nature. I’m also happy to provide referrals in your budget.

  • You pay your monthly premium for a reason! Let’s make your insurance benefits work for you. Call your insurance and ask:

    1. “Hi, do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health?”

    2. “If so, how much will I get reimbursed per session for a 45-50 minute session"?”

    3. “Do I have to meet a deductible first before my out-of-network benefits kick in?”

    4. “Am I eligible to use these benefits for tele-health appointments and in-person appointments, or only in-person?”

    5. “Do I need to be referred by an in-network provider, such as my PCP, in order to see an out-of-network therapist?”

    6. “When can I expect to see my reimbursement in the mail?”

I’ve seen clients receive their reimbursement straight in their mailbox 1-2 weeks after our first session. I’m here to help you make sure you’re armed with the best information about your insurance!

  • Being able to provide affordable or low-cost therapy is important to me, and I try to accommodate when and where I can. I currently have a waitlist for reduced fee spots for weekly 1-hour therapy sessions. Please sign up for my waitlist by completing this reduced rate questionnaire, and I can reach out to you to schedule your free intro call when a spot opens up!

  • Due to the lengthy nature of EMDR Intensives, I do not offer a sliding scale or reduced fee. However, if you’re interested in weekly, 1-hour EMDR sessions I may be able to offer a reduced fee. Just ask!

  • Yes, I accept Health Savings (HSA) and Flexible Savings (FSA) to help you pay for the cost of therapy, along with out-of-network insurance benefits. HSA and FSA benefits are a debit card of pre-tax dollars set aside from your paycheck and designated by your employer. Contact your employee benefits specialist to learn more about this benefit and how it can help you save on taxes.

  • While insurance may make therapy affordable in the short-term, it has been known to profit off inaccessibility in the long-term. Claims denials, surprise billing, clawbacks, and employer changes to insurance can actually get your hopes up, let you down, and disrupt care. When insurance gets involved, a diagnosis is required, confidentiality isn’t guaranteed, and insurance gets to dictate care—not you or me. I’d rather you and I cut out the middle man and work out a reduced fee than you get hit with a surprise bill. But if you need an in-network option, I’m happy to refer to some wonderful therapists I know who can meet that need.

  • I promise that I’m not the only therapist out there, and I’m confident you’ll find the best fit therapist for you. I recommend:

    1. Alma, Headway, Grow Therapy, or Rula therapy to find therapists in-network with your insurance. All four companies have therapists that are in-network with major insurances. Headway also allows you to filter by ethnicity to find therapists who understand and are a part of your cultural diaspora.

    2. If you don’t have insurance, Open Path Collective offers low-cost therapy with $40-80 out-of-pocket cost per session.

    3. Inclusive Therapists has a BIPOC therapy fund that will cover the cost of sessions. So does the Loveland Foundation for Black Girls and Women looking for therapy. Click the links above to learn more about if you qualify and how to apply.

Logistical FAQ:

  • If you need immediate support in the event of an emergency, please dial 988 for the Suicide Prevention Hotline. You can also call 911 and ask for Emergency Medical Services, but please note that two NYPD officers are required to accompany the ambulance, even in the event of a mental health emergency. Call the crisis mobile team at NYC Well at (888) 692-9355, and a counselor and peer support team will meet with you. NYC Well also offers crisis counseling over the phone in the event that it’s not an emergency. You do not need to have suicidal thoughts to call NYC Well. If you’re having a crisis and just need to talk, NYC Well is there for you!

  • I’m only legally allowed to see you if you reside in New York, New Jersey, or California. This affects your insurance benefits and coverage as well. If you need a referral to a therapist in your area, please visit Psychology Today or southasiantherapists.org.

  • If you live in New York, New Jersey, or California, you can get started here. If a time available isn’t listed, you can email me at therapy@tracylmhc.com to see if I have other availability. Once confirmed, I’ll send you a follow-up email with some additional info!

    Book Your Free Intro Call

  • Upon booking your free intro call, you’ll be prompted to complete a brief questionnaire at your client portal. The questionnaire will help you know what to expect and help me prepare for our call to keep it structured and productive for the both of us! The purpose of the call is to make sure I’m the right therapeutic fit for you.

  • I require that we have your free intro call first to see if I’m a food fit. At the end of our call, if it’s a good fit, I’ll ask if you’d like to book your first session. If so, we’ll go ahead and book your initial session within the next week. All I need from you is to complete your intake form (an extension of your brief questionnaire plus important therapy consent forms) no later than the night before your appointment to confirm your spot. From there, we’ll take it slow!

  • I offer in-person sessions at my Manhattan office. If you’re interested in meeting in-person, just ask! Please know that intro calls and initial sessions are always virtual in order to test the waters first.

  • I require that we meet weekly in the beginning in order to establish a rhythm, form new habits, and reduce symptoms. Studies show that meeting for weekly therapy is more effective in symptom reduction than meeting bi-weekly or at a less frequent cadence. Once you’re in a more stable place and there’s been progress towards goals, we can discuss reducing the frequency of our sessions.

  • The answer really depends on what you’re looking for, your mental health condition, and where you’re trying to go. Some people need ongoing care and prefer lifelong therapy. If you’re looking for something with a hard stop, I recommend my EMDR intensives.

Miscellaneous FAQ:

  • I have never and will never use AI or ChatGPT to record our sessions, write or session notes, or use Ai or ChatGPT for anything of a confidential nature.

While I have used ChatGPT for marketing materials (such as some blog posts), I have never and will never use it for any therapy service.
